Painting Party!

with one comment

Last night, I met my roommate Ariana, at her job, TMC Youth (TMC=The Mother Church). TMC Youth is located on the 19th floor of the Christian Science Administration building in the church plaza in Back Bay, Boston. I wanted to mention “19th floor” because the office has floor to ceiling windows that overlook all of downtown Boston and it’s just *spectacular*. We met up with about twenty other people of all ages, ranging from kids to adults, to help paint a mural.

Ariana had gone to Dick Blick earlier and picked up a huge amount of canvas…63 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Then, she had cut it up into 10w x 6h sections and attached it to the walls of their large office. Our friend Alex, a professional mural painter, painted an outline of a scene of kids playing outside on 3 panels of the canvas. Then, the rest of us took to filling in the mural with bold, primary colors and happy shapes. I really really enjoyed myself–it seemed everyone was happy and having a good time. We had good music, pizza from CPK, and brownies, mmm!

It was so much fun to paint, and everyone seemed satisfied with the result. We still have three more panels to paint; I think we’re having another painting party next weekend.

I took lots of photos, but haven’t gotten them developed yet. When I get them developed I’ll post them here. Here’s a little pretty painting on a canvas for you to look at in the mean time.
