Going to see the Cirque du Soleil show, Ka, tonight with Suzanne, Mom and Jay. Ka is one of 4 or 5 Cirque shows here in Las Vegas. I think of Cirque shows as the standard of good entertainment here (even though I’ve never been to one), so I’m really looking forward to it. Cirque tickets are generally expensive, but we got half off for being locals and getting them at a special time of year.

Then tomorrow, we get up to leave for Bakersfield, California. I haven’t ever been to any place in California except Hollywood, so it’ll be nice to see a less glitzy/played-out locale in this State of so Much Hype. Also, we’re driving, so hopefully I’ll get to see some vineyards and beautiful countryside.

We’re spending Easter with Lori and her daughter Jenny and her family. Lori is Mom’s oldest friend, who’s family took us in, way back in the 80s when Mom and I needed a place to stay. They’re lovely people and although I saw Lori 8 or so years ago, I haven’t seen Jenny in 20 years. Suzanne hasn’t seen either of them in that long. It should be a good reunion.

We got a sweet deal at one of Jay’s hotel branches in Bakersfield. With a pool too! The kids are excited.

*Update* Saw Ka on Friday. It was probably the closest thing to a religious experience I’ve ever had. Buy yourself a ticket, no matter the cost. It is worth it.
